Counseling vs Coaching

What is the difference between counseling and coaching at Divine Life LLC?

Counseling focuses on exploring past traumas, psychological challenges, and healing for mental and emotional well-being. It is led by licensed professionals who can guide individuals or couples through therapeutic interventions. Coaching, on the other hand, is goal-oriented and focuses on biblical and spiritual guidance to improve relationships and foster personal growth. Coaching is not psychotherapy or clinical counseling.

Do I need to be Christian to benefit from your services?

While our coaching and counseling are rooted in Christian principles, we welcome clients of all faiths or those with no religious background. Sessions can be tailored to meet your specific needs, and our approach can include or exclude spiritual elements based on your preference.

What can I expect from my first counseling session?

In your first session, you’ll discuss your goals and the issues you'd like to address. If you’re participating in counseling, our licensed therapist will help determine a suitable approach for your therapy. In coaching sessions, the course outline demonstrates a biblical-based plan to guide you toward personal or marital growth.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies by individual and goal. Coaching packages are offered in 6-session blocks, while counseling can be more open-ended based on ongoing progress and specific needs.

Are the sessions confidential?

Yes, all sessions are confidential. Exceptions to confidentiality include situations where there is intent to harm oneself or others, or where required by law. Generalized, non-identifiable information may be discussed within Divine Life LLC for supervision or training purposes.

Do I need to complete homework or assignments outside of sessions?

For both coaching and counseling, we may suggest exercises, journaling, or self-reflection activities between sessions. These are designed to help reinforce progress and apply what you’ve learned in your everyday life.

Can I discontinue services at any time?

Yes, you are free to discontinue services whenever you wish. We encourage open communication about your experience, so if you have any concerns, please discuss them with your coach or counselor.
